Trust
Not only must a system or service be trustworthy, but it also has to be trustable by the end-users. Work in this area has included:
- Patrick, A.S. (2002) Building trustworthy software agents. IEEE Internet Computing, 6(6), 46-53.
- a longer paper on building trustworthy agents: Privacy, Trust, Agents & Users: A Review of Human-Factors Issues Associated With Building Trustworthy Software Agents
In addition, I am working with Patricia Trbovich on a project examining the role of personal and situational context on trust decisions made during e-commerce transactions. A position paper for the CHI 2004 workshop on Trust in Ambient Societies is available:
- Trbovich, P.L., & Patrick, A.S. (2004). The impact of context upon trust formation in ambient societies. Position paper presented at the CHI 2004 Workshop on Considering Trust in Ambient Societies, April 26, Vienna, Austria.
