I find your post very informative. If it is true that identity thieves can make more money stealing other people's identity, then we have to be extra careful with all our personal, credit and medical documents. One way to do this is to have copies of out important files be shredded so that no one else can gain access to them. Recent researches show that only a small percentage of identity theft occurs through Internet hacking. Most victims have their personal information stolen through their personal records and so we have to be very careful with our written documents.

Good and useful information. I would also add that we have to be on guard when we surf the internet. It is important to make sure you have good internet security suite installed. Challenges to our online security and privacy are increasing day by day. Dumpster diving has given way to sophisticated internet hacking. What is exceedingly helpful is if you can hide ones IP. This can be achieved by surfing the net anonymously by using multiple proxy servers and software to route your internet connection through these servers effectively hiding your IP address. Combine this with encryption technology and you can feel more secure and protect your privacy as well.

I wish these thieves steal the ids of congressmen and their relatives and defraud them. That will create a wake up call to clean these acts. Also, politicians take bribe, thus it will be bribe-distribution job.
