Abstract:
Users are often described as “the weakest link” in security
systems. Rather than blaming users, this talk will focus on
understanding the characteristics, limitations, goals, and tasks of
users, and how security systems can be designed and operated using
this knowledge. Topics to be covered include password management
behaviors, phishing, Trojans, spyware, authentication, biometrics, and
identity theft. The human behavior associated with each of these
issues is examined, and technical issues and solutions are explored.
